A trip in Puerto Princesa wouldn't be complete without dining the famous restaurants like the Badjao Seafront on my previous post, but now here’s another native restaurant that I love the most! The KaLui, I've learned from our hotel where we’re staying that it is a must visit and recommended place among tourists. Sounds interesting right? So Rj and I decided to book a dinner for two on our second night in Palawan. It is just a five to ten minutes away from our hotel.
Upon entering the restaurant you will notice that it seems like a small native wooden house, but no! It is big inside that I think can accommodate up to fifty people and more. Before we enter the main dining, we need to leave our slippers and shoes in a small locker and walk barefooted. We were greeted by friendly and smiling staff and assisted us to our table. There were two kinds of table: first is table where it was floor-seating and table with a native chairs. Despite the fact the restaurant was not air conditioned, we like the ambiance – cool fresh air breezing through the restaurant and have a light music.
Our food finally arrived after ten to fifteen minutes of waiting. They served our food separately and accordingly – First on the row, is our drinks. I ordered watermelon shake and Rj ordered banana shake. Secondly, they served the appetizer which is the seaweed salad and next the main course composed of: fish rolls in coco cream, sinigang ni kaka, garlic butter prawns and grilled fish. They also given us KaLui’s complimentary dessert, the fruit slices topped with muscovado placed in a half coconut shell. Ohhh myyy! Our plates are wiped out by hungry beggar hahaha LOL, we’re so bloated!
Before we leave the restaurant, we roamed around and noticed the whole place especially at the back part of it was decorated with beautiful artworks mostly paintings of native Filipina and fish cultures. My eyes feasted on colorful paintings and photographs hanging on the wall. It seems like mini painting exhibit gallery! Now I know why dining here is definitely a must. Everything here is so alluring and perfect, but take note: A reservation is needed before you decide to dig in or else you will queue in a long line.
